SAR Academy, a Modern Orthodox day school in Riverdale, NY, is seeking an experienced, dynamic Lower School (Grades 1-5) and Middle School (Grades 6-8) STEM teacher with a passion to teach and a strong ability to build rapport with students in an environment where learning through 21st-century resources is valued and encouraged.

Qualifications:

-Exhibits a strong ability to build connections with young students and to develop an atmosphere of mutual respect

-Displays effective collaborative skills

-Understands principles of social, emotional, and cognitive development 

-Demonstrates an ability to teach elementary and middle school children core ideas within the domains of science while incorporating scientific and engineering practices

-Experience with or a willingness to learn coding, robotics, 3D design, and engineering design process

-Uses educational technology to maximize student engagement and to differentiate instruction

-Approaches problem-solving in a positive, creative and encouraging manner

Responsibilities:

-Prepares and teaches engaging inquiry-based Science curriculum

-Incorporates STEM education through experiential learning

-Create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula

-Teaches students in a fair, warm and open-minded environment with differentiated learning

-Manages classroom effectively

-Maintains open communication with students, parents and administrators 

-Assumes responsibilities outside of the classroom, such as tefila, lunch and recess duty
