SARC (The Sexual Assault / Spouse Abuse Resource Center) is seeking dedicated individuals to join us in our mission to be Harford County’s lifeline for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, and stalking.

About the Role :

As a Residential Advocate at SARC, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for residents of our shelter.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Greeting residents and responding to their requests for assistance or supplies with compassion and empathy.
  • Conducting intakes and orienting survivors and their children to the shelter, ensuring their initial needs are met.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and order of the shelter, including restocking supplies, laundry, and conducting regular security checks.
  • Providing crisis intervention services, including answering emergency hotline, safety planning, and offering emotional support.
  • Collaborating with on-call staff to address emergencies and issues related to residents.

Schedule :

Saturdays and Sundays, 10am-8pm

Plus, flexibility in scheduling to ensure 24 / 7 coverage of the shelter and emergency crisis line.

Salary : $17.54 per hour

Requirements

Necessary Skills :

  • Desire to gain experience working with victims / survivors of domestic violence.
  • Attention to detail, emotional maturity, flexibility, and ability to work independently.
  • Physical ability to climb steps and lift occasional bulky items.

A valid driver's license.

Preferred Experience :

At least 1 year in crisis intervention.
