Sarepta Therapeutics is Hiring a Remote Lab Animal Tech

Sarepta Therapeutics is seeking a motivated individual to support both the vivarium and Translational Biology. The qualified candidate will split their time between both departments. The vivarium duties will be to perform treatments and rodent care as required for study and colony management. The candidate will also need to demonstrate proficient technical skills, including multiple site injections, proficient rodent handling, and the ability to recognize and identify rodent health concerns. All aspects of this position expose personnel to animal fur and dander. The duties to the Translational Biology department will be to provide laboratory support of day-to-day GLPs (Good Laboratory Practices) testing on muscle, nerve and other types of tissue using complex prosecting and histology methods in accordance with the requirements of approved protocols and SOPs (standard operating procedures). Maintain records of activities and experiments; complete data entry using validated data entry computer systems; assist in analyzing data and preparing laboratory reports. The qualified candidate may also rotate between functions of the Translational Biology department, including but not limited to necropsy and histology. Primary Responsibilities Include: Perform multiple injection techniques including IV, IM, IP, and SQ. Assist in monitoring, observing, and performing treatments within the animal facility Perform protocol specific necropsy evaluations of laboratory animals, including but not limited to sample container preparation, harvesting, and weighing of tissues and accurate and timely record keeping. Performs tissue trimming according to study protocols. Performs a variety of tissue preservation techniques including liquid nitrogen immersion, fixation, and perfusion procedures. Maintains wet tissue storage. Responsible for the preparation of pre-clinical and clinical study materials to support Gene Therapy, Gene Editing, and RNA programs. Assists with tissue embedding, microtomy, slide staining, quality control of tissues, as well as slide/tissue inventory. Develops a strong working knowledge of balances, scales, centrifuges, profusion equipment, cassette and slide labelers, tissue processors, and other routine laboratory equipment. Maintains and calibrate laboratory equipment as needed. Ability to perform histological staining including but not limited to routine (H&E), special staining, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry assays. Communicating regularly with Lead Veterinary Technicians and cross-functional department leads Maintaining appropriate record keeping per GLP and animal welfare guidelines. Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines. Work on rotating weekend/holiday schedule Desired Skills and Education: BS degree with 3 years of laboratory experience preferred. LAT, LATG certification preferred or achieve certification status within 6 months. Ability to execute sample handling and analysis with strict adherence to laboratory methods and SOPs. Experience with necropsy, animal handling and anatomy. Experience in muscle and nerve tissue handling preferred. Ability to successfully collaborate cross-functionally to organize/track information, prioritize accordingly, and the ability to quickly adjust to shifting priorities and demanding timelines when necessary. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work extended hours as needed, including but not limited to weekend and holiday coverage, occasionally on short notice. Dexterity of physical condition to operate all job duties; lift and move objects regularly throughout the shift. Must avoid contact with rodent species outside of work. This position requires significant animal handling that may result in sensitization to allergens or exacerbate pre-existing allergies. The targeted salary range for this position is $52,000 - $65,000 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges.
