Job Overview

We are seeking a Head of Security responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all aspects of security within the organization. Physical security, cybersecurity, personnel security, and the protection of sensitive information are included. A strong background in defense security, extensive experience with DoD security protocols, and a proven track record of leading security teams in a high-stakes environment are ideal.

Responsibilities

* Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy aligned with the company's objectives and DoD requirements

* Oversee the protection of company facilities, equipment, and personnel. Implement access control systems, surveillance, and security protocols

* Lead the cybersecurity efforts to protect the company's digital assets, including networks, systems, and data. Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards

* Manage background checks, security clearances, and insider threat programs. Ensure all personnel adhere to security policies and procedures

* Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses. Develop and implement mitigation strategies for identified security risks

* Develop and manage incident response plans for security breaches or incidents. Coordinate with law enforcement and DoD as necessary

* Ensure compliance with all relevant DoD regulations, including NIST, CMMC, and other security frameworks. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes

* Develop and implement security training programs for all employees. Foster a culture of security awareness within the organization

* Work closely with engineering, IT, legal, and operations teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the company's operations and product development

* Regularly report to senior leadership on the status of the company's security posture, incidents, and improvements

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred

* 10 years of experience in security management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the defense industry

* Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CPP) are highly desirable

* Deep understanding of DoD security regulations and standards. Experience with NIST and CMMC frameworks

* Strong leadership and management skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

* Proficiency in risk assessment and incident management

* Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
