SUMMARY

The Maintenance Tech II performs equipment repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the facilities. This position performs troubleshooting and repairs to electrical and electronic panels, components and controls and monitors utility systems throughout the manufacturing facilities. The Maintenance Tech II is a developmental position, in which Team Members are expected to expand their knowledge and skills to transition to a Maintenance Tech III. This position works 9pm to 7am, 4-10 hour days, on a 2 week rotation. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and completes all preventative maintenance of all mechanical systems, pumps, process and sanitary piping, electrical, electronic and all related components.
  • Completes and communicates work orders to plant and maintenance personnel and completes all required documentation.
  • Maintains, adjusts, and performs troubleshooting of electronic components of PLC systems, AC & DC motor control systems, and electronic instrumentation.
  • Performs operation of refrigeration equipment which consists of startup, shutdown and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs and/or replaces electronic components such as RTD’s, level sensors, controllers, AC & DC Motor’s, switches, fuses, etc. 
  • Fabricates repair parts or components utilizing machine shop equipment.
  • Performs welding repairs to equipment, structural components.
  • Maintains equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed parts and supplies and placing and expediting orders.
  • Uses technical support documents and materials when needed.
  • Maintains a clean work area, both in the maintenance shop and when completing work in food processing plants.
  • Complies with all company Safety and GMP policies.
  • Immediately reports any food safety or quality issues to management or other individual authorized to initiate action.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

3-5 years’ experience in maintenance or related field with training certifications in the areas of the trades or enrolled and pursuing a Maintenance Apprenticeship or Electro-Mech degree.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of maintenance software including: WonderWare, Ladder Logic and Allen Bradley software.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of two, three and four digit numbers using units of weight measurement and counts, ratios, proportions, percentages, and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret work related documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural diagrams, wiring diagrams, layouts, and ladder logic and carry out work instructions.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively and in a way that other Team Members will understand.
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions or apply general rules to specific problems.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver's license required for using company vehicles. Must maintain a clean driving record in order to remain insurable under the company’s insurance policy.

Certified to operate forklifts (will train and certify on the job)

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The Team Member is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; working in coolers at temperatures of 40-45 degrees; extreme heat in areas such as the boiler room; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

TOOL & EQUIPMENT USED

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be required to work with hand power tools, welders, cutting torches, presses, lathes, milling machines, grinders, calculator, measuring and calibrating tools, electrical test instruments, mechanical test instruments, motorized pallet trucks, and assorted hand tools.

PPE REQUIRED

Personal protective equipment that is required when working with hazardous materials or loud equipment includes: safety goggles, rubber or latex gloves, lab coat and hearing protection.
