While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and a wet and humid environment. Temperatures regularly reach between 80-90 plus degrees. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Protective Equipment RequiredPersonal protective equipment that is required when working with hazardous materials or loud equipment includes: safety goggles, rubber or latex gloves, lab coat and hearing protection. Other recommended PPE includes: face shield, chemical resistant apron and steel toe shoes. See Chemical Hygiene Plan for details.

- Maintains accurate, legible records of cheese location and quantity.
- Complies with all company Safety, HACCP and GMP policies.
- Immediately reports any food safety or quality issues to management or other individual authorized to initiate action.
- Fills cheese wheel molds with cheese curd using packing equipment, monitoring cheese wheel size.
- Stacks wheels horizontally onto cheese presses.
- Flips 20 lb wheels in press to ensure proper wheel form.
- Removes cheese from molds.
- Maintains accurate wheel weights and counts.
- Cleans and sanitizes production area and equipment.
- Palletizes finished wheels and transfers cheese to other production areas using forklift.
- Removes, washes and sanitizes hoops and lids.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE18 years old, required.
High school diploma or equivalency, preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Basic computer skills, with proficiency operating Window’s based software.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of two, three and four digit numbers using units of weight measurement and counts.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills.
- Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to maintain legible accurate records.
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
