SASED is Hiring an Art Teacher Near Naperville, IL

Title: Art Therapist/TeacherReports to: Program Administrator - Southeast SchoolJob Goal: The Art Therapist/Teacher will provide instruction to students in the Pathways Program that have social emotional disabilities in classroom settings. The Art Teacher will work collaboratively and lead the classroom team to support the educational needs of students in the areas of art and art curriculum. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Art Therapy, Art Education, or related Art degree preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Educator License issued by ISBE endorsed in Art.
  • LBSI endorsement
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in a classroom setting to address the individualized educational needs of each student.
  • Direct the educational support staff to assist in the implementation of the lesson plan.
  • Provide services in a transdisciplinary team, integrated model.
  • Work flexibly with students of varying ability levels.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members in the development of goals and instructional strategies.
  • Implement medical or behavioral plans specific to student needs as necessary.
  • Demonstrate professional work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills to promote a collaborative team effort.
  • Provide in-service and/or workshops as requested by staff.
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement individualized behavior plans created by the classroom team.

Terms of Employment: 184 day calendar; with compensation set by the SASED Board of Directors.Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the SASED Board of Directors policy on evaluation of licensed staff.

The School Association for Special Education in DuPage County is a cooperative of 18 school districts providing services to 6,442 students with disabilities in DuPage County, Illinois. A complete continuum of services is provided for all students with disabilities ages 3-21.
