Savannah Speech and Hearing Center is Hiring a Pediatric Occupational Therapist Near Savannah, GA

Savannah Speech & Hearing Center is a nonprofit that has served our community since 1954 with mission to provide access to comprehensive speech, hearing, language and other therapeutic services that empower and transform lives. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to work with our pediatric population as part of our established Rehabilitation Department, which currently consists of Speech Language Pathologists, Pediatric Occupational and Physical Therapists. We are looking for an able and dedicated pediatric occupational therapist to offer services to infants, children and adolescents with physical, sensory or cognitive challenges, with a goal to help each achieve developmental skills and create solutions for happy and healthy participation in daily living through play. Our occupational therapists work closely with families, as well as our Speech Language Pathologists and Pediatric Physical Therapists as needed, to promote each child’s functional development and success.

We are open to contract or part-time schedules, that can increase with need and desire to a full-time schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize formal and informal assessments and clinical reasoning skills to evaluate and determine appropriate needs of referred children.
  • Interact with caregivers and families to determine functional status and presenting problems of child.
  • Help promote each child’s functional development and success.
  • Properly document patient care in electronic health records.
  • Facilitate and monitor occupational therapies and rehabilitative programs.
  • Coordinate child's care with other healthcare professionals and rehabilitation team members here at the Center.
  • Teaching children and their families about safety and home practices.
  • Communicate progress and recommendations to appropriate physicians.
