We are currently recruiting for the position of:
Sr. Risk Specialist - Modesto, CA
The Sr. Risk Specialist will possess the analytic skills to assist with determining the types of risks that could affect the company's financial health, legal compliance or reputation. The Sr. Risk Specialist should be able to work with company Leaderships, Department Managers, and legal staff. The Sr. Risk Specialist will work with our Third-Party Administrator (TPA) to report, administer and resolve opened claims. Additionally, the incumbent will work closes with our insurance broker and vendors on various company projects and initiatives.
The position requires the analytic skill sets and knowledge to review operational procedures, business data, losses and trends reports and present the outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.The incumbent should have an understanding of Workers Compensation, OSHA, EPA, DOT and Health Department regulations.
Responsibilities :

• Represent the company at legal proceedings, program audits, vendor meeting, along with regulatory and court hearings
• Provides consultative guidance to reduce organizational risk and legal liability by conducting studies and surveys of work locations and processes to identify and assess potential risk factors.
• Collects and analyses data on historical losses to identify trends.
• Develops controls meant to minimize risk or loss and oversees implementation.
• Conducts financial analyses and modeling to estimate monetary value of potential losses or savings related to loss prevention.
• Works with retail, logistic, back-office support and corporate management on risk awareness on various policies and procedures.
• Communicate with employees and management on a regular basis the needs and changes of the self-insured claims programs
• Liaison with Claim Examiners and field locations to when needed for the investigation of claims
• Assist with the return to work program
• Assist in the development and updating of claim service instruction for third party administrators
• Examine claims forms, medical bills, property damage, and other records to determine liability and insurance coverage
• Refer questionable claims to the specialist or claims adjuster for investigation or settlement
• Liaison with Safety Team to Counsel/work with employees and locations with high claims rates to evaluate in-store safety program administration
• Assist with identifying company risks and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations
• Assist in Insurance renewal and contribute to budget recommendations
• Provide program and administrative support to Director of Risk Management; may represent Director at meetings, etc.
• May lead projects, as assigned to improve existing programs
• Follow all safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Hiring pay range: $70,145.00 - 92,065.00
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• Knowledge of California and Nevada Workers Compensation rules and time tables
• Understanding of ADA process and implications under Workers Compensation
• Understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT and Health Department regulations.
• Working knowledge of case management systems as it applies to developing job task analysis to assess employees for return to work
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

• Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint , and Word
• PREFERRED : General knowledge of Commercial Auto, Property and General Liability coverages (CA and NV). A D&O, EPL and Surety understanding is helpful.

Education: 4 year Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent experience/training

Experience: Five years of related experience

Other: Up to 30% travel
