We are seeking an Advisor, Finance Management to oversee and provide financial support for the US Programs.In this role, you will serve as the financial point of contact for all financial management within your region and provide additional support in backstopping the other Advisors and Managing Director with analysis and allocations. You will also be responsible for providing budget holder financial support including award management, sub-award management, budgeting, financial analysis, accounting, and expense allocation guidance for a specified region of states.
What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Financial Budgeting and Analysis (40%)
  • Assist the State Director on the annual planning and budgeting process for state budgets within your portfolio
  • Conduct budget reviews to ensure efficient use of resources and advise budget holders on maximizing funds
  • Conduct regular analysis of financial data, and prepare monthly financial performance reports including, but not limited to, budget vs. actual, forecast expenses, and trends
  • Provide financial and strategic guidance to state program team(s), identifying and addressing financial risks
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis reports as requested
Award Management (30%)
  • Work with Resource Development and State teams to create proposal budgets
  • Work with lead associate to proactively identify funding gaps and provide strategic guidance to fundraising teams to ensure our funding aligns with our strategy
  • Advise on life of award meetings to help develop spend plans that align with our scope of work and donor conditions
  • Review donor reports prepared by direct reports for accuracy and compliance
Sub-award Management (30%)
  • Supports a complex portfolio of site and community sub-award partners
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership to create efficiencies in the sub-award process
  • Maintain comprehensive sub-award tracking for your portfolio to support program team in decision making for sub-award partners
  • Follow the sub-award management manual throughout the entire sub-award process from start to close out.
  • Oversee completion of annual risk assessment and financial monitoring processes for all subawards in your portfolio
  • Host spending and allocation meetings with program teams to ensure expenses align with the budget and donor conditions.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated ability to use facilitation to move individuals and groups towards action.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Compensation
Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $84,150 - $94,050 base salary
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $76,500 - $85,500 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $68,850 - $76,950 base salary
The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.
