SALARY:
$60,000 - $70,000 annually
Direct Hire Role
SUMMARY
Perform research, development, and scale-up activities for new products and services, performing the following duties personally, through subordinates, and in collaboration with coworkers. Assist the EHS Department with chemical and environmental safety responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
· Work in a safe and responsible manner.
· Organize and implement changes to sensitive documents, including but not limited to: batch sheets, packaging requirements, and chemical safety recommendations.
· Monitor real-time batch data and identify deviations from the acceptable process.
· Identify gaps in current manufacturing capabilities relative to requirements for new products and manufacturing processes. Identify and recommend solutions to bridge gaps, including identification and specification of new manufacturing equipment where required.
· Perform technical support for production using principles of engineering such as mass balances, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
· Provide technical support to customers, when requested.
· Write standard operating procedures related to batch sheet creation and document management.
· Support root cause investigations via process data, problem solving skills, and communication with team members.
· Help to manage the scale-up process for new products and technologies, tracking status and results of scale-up activities. Keep the Chemical Process Engineering Manager informed on the status of all projects and scale-up work.
· Oversee waste handling and disposal, including training to employees for proper handling of and disposal of all waste from the facility.
· Coordinate actions taken in cases of chemical emergencies, including contacting outside agencies as needed and internal response.
· Assist EHS Department with chemical and environmental reporting requirements.
· Working knowledge of SDS (Safety Data Sheets) review and approvals.
· Assist with chemical and environmental documentation and document control.
· Participate in and assist with Process Safety Management and Flow.
