Job Description
Saylor Consulting Group (SCG) has an opportunity for an Engineer with IT Infrastructure Project Management Experience to work with our client, San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The candidate will be responsible for managing the design , validation, vendor management, implementation and testing of wide area network systems, public and operational Wi-Fi networks, cable infrastructure and IT systems for large capital projects at SFO. Experience with the actual develop of scope of work and project design drawings, implementation, and construction process of necessary IT infrastructure buildings and systems is required. The position requires the candidate to be available full-time onsite.
Daily Duties
  • Manages the design, validation, implementation and testing of new and upgraded enterprise-wide network infrastructure, technology systems and applications, public and operational Wi-Fi networks, campus area networks, and associated cabling and conduit infrastructure for multi-year large scale capital construction projects.
  • Oversees facilities projects designed to maintain, modernize existing and / or implement new IT systems, networks and infrastructure, including the implementation and / or upgrade of passive and active IT system.
  • Develops and manages detailed project plans and drawings, based on four standard phases: Initiation, Planning, Execution & Project Closeout. Maintains currency of project reporting as required.
  • Manages project scope, risk, budget, schedule, resources, communications, info security, integration, procurement and quality of outcome.
  • Prepares various documents including regular status reports, budget cost estimates and updates, feasibility studies and project implementation proposals, documents and schedules.
  • Facilitates the technology review of construction design documents related to network and IT infrastructure.
  • Manages capital project budgeting, funding and expense reporting for large scale IT capital projects.
  • Gathers requirements and information regarding user needs relating to IT infrastructure, IT systems or application development; analyze and evaluate needs and provide recommendations; conducts feasibility studies; provides documentation of requirements.
  • Sets expectations with customers and project team members; identifies opportunities for improving service and business processes.
  • Determines allocation of resources and installation schedules; oversees all phases of project implementation. Will manage simultaneous projects.
  • Monitors progress to ensure timely completion per project plan and schedule. Communicates status to all key stakeholders on a regular basis per Communication Plan, including notification to all affected parties if project schedule is at risk of being delayed.
  • Performs risk assessment and develops and updates risk register on an ongoing basis to identify, assess and mitigate all key project risks relative to the successful delivery of the project.
  • Understands and responds to the needs of the customer/user at all levels, assures proper planning and documentation of systems to meet user requirements.
  • Responds quickly and proactively to resolve problem situations; effectively escalates issues as required.
  • Ensures effective communication between management, customers/users, and if applicable - external consultants.
  • Coordinates multi-vendor support for the technical and administrative resolution of problems.
  • Conducts, attends and/or coordinates project team and user meetings.
  • Establishes a budget plan/worksheet for every Project Plan. Manages project expenses against budget and updates the budget plan regularly to ensure project stays within budget.
  • Manages all aspects of project management to deliver a quality product on schedule and on budget.
  • Manages and directs large-scale enterprise customer projects and develops Project Management (PM) standards, processes and procedures.
  • Develops appropriate IT business relationships with key stakeholders and Airport departments.
  • Ensures turnover and support documentation is developed, implemented and managed through the life of the project.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Able to work on multiple projects and support numerous locations across the campus with their unique and individual needs simultaneously.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10 years of relevant Engineering and IT Project Management experience, with at 3-5 years of experience of senior-level experience as a Project Engineer/IT Project Manager managing the design, validation, vendor management, implementation, and testing of wide area network systems, public and operational Wi-Fi networks, cable infrastructure, and IT systems for large capital projects.
  • Experience with the actual development of scope documents design drawings, implementation, and construction process of necessary IT infrastructure buildings and systems is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven record of an attention to detail and impeccable follow-through of open actions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Enthusiastic and collaborative individual with the ability to work under pressure in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team with flexibility to adjust to changing priorities while managing to deadlines.
