HIgh Growth company in NYC looking for Compliance and Testing Manager for Jewelry and Watches. Will expand into other categories. Fast pace environment with great benefits. 5 days in office. Job responsibilities – Must have Jewelry/Watch experience and Need to be aware of legal and testing requirements placed on manufacturers Work with sales and design teams as a resource while we are developing product for different customers and countries to identify the testing, product performance and compliance guidelines that are relevant for each product. Access and review customer provided guidelines and vendor guides for the different products we are designing to advise product development what they need to be specifying to the supplier about testing and compliance requirements. When products/programs are sold – prepare program specific communication with supplier outlining all product requirements and testing. Establish timelines for this testing and make sure the testing is scheduled and initiated. Depending on product, the supplier may submit products for testing or we will need to do it domestically. Review all testing results. If there are warnings or failures, determine with supplier and product development if these can be corrected or if we will need waivers. Review vendor guidelines for all our key customers and for all our relevant products regularly to create simplified one sheets for our designers and factory personnel. Should be knowledgeable in international requirements and ever-changing federal laws that apply in terms of labels/wording/ mandatory inclusions to packaging. This changes and needs to be something in our sights as we move forward in projects. Even when they are repeat items the regulations change. Our team has our buyers review and sign off on all packaging. That does not mean that they are up on the local laws. We need whoever handles this to then be able to go out to an agency such as an MTS and have label and packaging reviews done to ensure we are compliant. This is not expensive and will head off some of the issues. This person needs a background in working in compliance review, lab document review, packaging review. Experience/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
7- 10 years min of knowledge of, trade regulations, and testing standards in the jewelry/watches and other accessories
Excellent communication, time management, detail-oriented, and problem solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically.
