SBW & ASSOCIATES, PC is a well-established, highly innovative accounting firm in northwest Wyoming. Our Powell office is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our growing team! We are in need of a talented, motivated, client-focused bookkeeping professional with approximately 5 or more years of bookkeeping and accounting experience that have the natural ability to communicate effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to accounts in journals or computer files from documents such as invoices, receipts, check stubs, and computer printouts.
  • Summarizes details in separate ledgers or computer files and transfers data to general ledger.
  • Reconciles and balances accounts.
  • Compiles reports to show statistics such as receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operation of business.
  • Calculates employee wages from records or time cards and prepares checks for payment of wages.
  • Prepares payroll, labor, withholding, Social Security, and other tax reports.
  • Computes, types, and mails monthly statements to customers.
  • Completes records to or through trial balance.
  • Provide accurate and timely client financial statements and schedules for partner review and signature.
  • Maintain monthly bookkeeping tickler list.
  • Investigate monthly suspense items.
  • Assist with client education regarding bookkeeping and payroll responsibilities and requirements.
  • Assist with preparation of client tax returns.
  • Support partners and participate in special projects, as directed.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and Five (5) or more years in related experience and/or training.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, co-workers and partners.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Spreadsheet and Tax/Accounting software.
