The job

This position supports the efficiency and compliance of the Enrollment Reconciliation, Premium Billing, Claims, Grievance and Appeals (GAD) Departments. Ensures compliance with Health Insurance and Accountability Act (HIPAA) laws by securing Protected Health Information (PHI) and Payment Card Information (PCI) by securing protected information in accordance with regulatory guidance and internal policy and procedure. 

You will

  • Ensures processes meet or exceed regulatory requirements by reading and understanding issued guidance and internal policies and procedures.
  • Ensures accurate and timely delivery of incoming and outgoing communications by processing internal and external mail (standard or electronic) upon receipt and facilitating delivery to the appropriate recipient. 
  • Research new membership identification (ID) card mail that is returned as undeliverable, and processed in accordance with regulatory guidance and internal policy and procedures. 
  • Including securing PCI and facilitating the delivery live checks, such as but not limited to premium payments, claim payments to foreign providers, returned check payments and invoices.
  • Ensures the security of protected information by routinely removing protected information from common areas such as printers and fax machines and delivering to the appropriate person/location throughout the business day and ensuring that recycle bins are emptied and the materials placed in secured recycle stations daily. 
  • Contributes to the department efficiency by managing the materials and fulfillment processes (for internal/external customers and department staff). Make copies, send faxes or other standard/electronic communications, collate materials, and deliver/pick up items, as needed.
  • Supports department compliance by maintaining logs for various tasks/responsibilities, running, and distributing routine and/or ad hoc reports.
  • Scans, indexes and maintains storage of all membership correspondence and documentation in accordance of federal regulation under the Health Insurance Probability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) of retention and disposal of member records.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed in assisting in other departments such as Claims and GAD clerical processes and functions, as assigned. Including but not limited to the uploading of medical records to CD’s and the mailing office supplies to the staff .
  • Performing some occasional cleaning duties as needed to ensure the convenience copiers, printers, and fax machines are kept neat and well stocked with paper including clearing our paper jams.
  • Actively support the achievement of SCAN’s Vision and Goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your qualifications

  • Preferred, but not required: G.E.D/High School Diploma
  • Clerical experience and ability to use printer, copier and fax machine preferred.
  • Accurate type and 10-key skills preferred.
  • Approved access to CMS MARx eligibility system is required.
  • Effective, respectful and courteous communication with internal and external clients
  • General knowledge of facilities and office services.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritizing projects and deadlines. 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and build relationships.
