Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service is a voluntary, not-for profit family counseling agency providing service since 1920 to those who live or work in the greater Scarsdale area. The mission of the Agency is to be a center for family growth and learning, a place where families, couples and individuals can find help with the normal problems of daily living, as well as crises; to enhance the functioning of the family and its individual members through family life education; to stimulate social thinking and action to better social conditions; and to cooperate with other organizations for this purpose.

Youth Coordinator, 8 hours per week. Hourly Employment:

Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service (SFCS) is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate the youth activities of the Scarsdale Action for Youth or SAY Coalition, a community-based drug and alcohol prevention coalition. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work effectively with teens, age 14-18 years old, and assist them in executing their group goals and activities.

Key responsibilities:

· Promote positive youth development and a substance free lifestyle.

· Develop a plan for youth recruitment and leadership.

· Schedule, supervise and facilitate youth prevention activities.

· Deliver required prevention education and youth training.

· Track program efforts for required data collection and reporting.

· Assist with group communications including use of group’s social media channel(s) and email communications.

· Collaborate with staff, volunteers and community partners to implement prevention campaigns and programs.

· Attend required training in substance use prevention best practices.

· Other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree.

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

· Experience working or volunteering with adolescents.

· Demonstrated ability to problem solve.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work in collaborative work environment.

This is a non-exempt, 10-month, position with immediate availability.

Weekday afternoon and evening, with some occasional weekend requirements with advance notice. The position is ideal for a graduate student pursuing a career in social service, substance abuse prevention or mental health.
