Job Responsibilities
- Provide hydrologic and hydraulics engineering expertise, technical oversight, and overall management of dam and water resource engineering projects.
- Perform detailed and complex hydrologic, hydraulic, and water resources engineering analyses using state of the industry tools and software.
- Perform inspections of dams and hydraulics structures.
- Develop and review design calculations, hydraulic and hydrologic computer models, engineering reports, and design drawings.
- Collaborate with peers from other technical disciplines to achieve project goals, including geotechnical, civil, structural, and mechanical engineers.
- Develop engineering proposals and qualification statements.
- Perform project management activities including planning and delegating work, managing project budgets, invoicing, communicating resource needs, and reporting backlog.
- Work as a team member within the Greensboro office and across other Schnabel offices.
- Manage client relationships and business development opportunities
- Manage, teach, and mentor junior staff, commensurate with experience level.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or other related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
- 5 years of relevant work experience in hydraulics and hydrology.
- Licensed Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain reciprocity in other states or ability to become a Licensed Professional Engineer within 6 months of the date of employment.
- Experience performing open channel and closed conduit hydraulic design of infrastructure for water measurement, control, and conveyance.
- Experience with and active use of engineering software commonly used to evaluate watersheds, dams, and hydraulic structures: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (both 1D and 2D), SITES, ArcPro, and AutoCAD/Civil 3D. Experience with 3D CFD or numerical modeling is preferred.
- Experience preparing and reviewing design drawings.
- Understanding of the current state of the practice in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses related to dam engineering.
- Prior project management experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A strong work ethic and the desire to perform professionally at a high level.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and well-organized.
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment screening.
