This Senior Product Engineer is self-motivated, and solutions focused. They are calm under pressure and confident in their abilities. They will lead and mentor. They are Impact Makers at Schneider Electric!As a Senior Product Engineer, a typical day for you might include:
- Reviewing and evaluating job specifications, system one-line diagrams, elevation and plan view drawings, fab details, assembly details and Bills of Material (BOM’s) based on professional experience.
- Working with Design Engineering to produce customer drawings and mechanical detail drawings and work with the Electrical group to produce complete system design drawings that meet specifications and industry standards.
- Managing assigned activities by assuring completion within committed objectives, schedules, and costs.
- Acting as the technical lead on assigned projects and will be knowledgeable and accountable for the work done on each project.
- Working with the shop during fabrication and field technicians during startup to resolve issues and coordinate engineering efforts with other engineers as needed.
- Providing technical support to other departments by answering questions and requests.
- Developing custom mechanical designs for LV/MV switchgear projects/upgrades.
- Overseeing revisions to project designs and/or design standards.
- Training and mentoring engineers.
- Reviewing submittal packages and working with Project Management and/or Engineering Management on any items not clearly defined.
- Maintaining Product and company reputation by complying with applicable regulations and standards.
- Evaluate assigned projects by designing and conducting research around custom specifications and applying knowledge of mechanics, stress analysis, heat transfer and materials.
- Occasionally represent assigned engineering functions during Factory Witness Tests.
- Keep technically abreast of changes, advancements, and/or improvements within area of assignment or discipline, incorporating these improvements where applicable.
- A 4-year engineering degree; master’s in engineering or PE license will be considered a plus.
- 5 years of professional experience with LV and MV Switchgear, OEM design activities, meeting schedules and providing technical support.
- Experience with File Management Software, Job scope/JDE, and Microsoft Applications.
- Advanced understanding of Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Switchgear Design applications.
- Awareness and understanding of applicable codes, including NEC, NFPA110, NYC-EC, UL508, UL891, UL1008 and UL1558.
- Strong mentorship skills - ability to teach skills by explaining technical processes with clarity and patience.
- Adept in defining issues, gathering facts, considering multiple possible solutions and selecting the best outcome based on personal judgment.
