Position Start Date 8/27/2024 Salary/Wage Per negotiated contract Appointment Type Full Time DescriptionThe School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE General Music Teacher at Hintgen Elementary School beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. Projected start date: August 27, 2024. Wisconsin certification 1511 and 1515 is required. Multiple Certifications are preferred. Strong knowledge and understanding around Responsive Classroom practices and a focus on schoolwide community, as well as content knowledge around music instruction. Prefer Applicants Possessing The Following Qualifications
Knowledge of current practices and methodologies in the teaching of general and vocal music.
Knowledge of and ability to teach students with special needs.
Knowledge of and ability to use music technology, computers, and software.
Music experience and experience with Responsive Classroom.
Skills Necessary Include
Excellence in performance ability on an elementary classroom demonstration instrument, preferably piano.
Guitar, recorder, autoharp, etc. also acceptable.
Excellence in rehearsal and classroom management techniques.
Excellence in knowledge of vocal literature and integrated pedagogical methods.
Excellence in involving students in a personal music experience.
Excellence in interpersonal relationship skills.
Position Responsibilities
Provides direct instruction of vocal and general music program in elementary grades. Provides individual and/or small group lessons as needed. Presents formal and informal concerts throughout the school year.
Conducts classroom instruction based on established curriculum by incorporating international themes
Monitors student performance and behavior and takes appropriate action.
Participates in parent/teacher conferences. Interprets student strengths, weaknesses and/or problems a student may be experiencing in the classroom.
Collaborates with other staff in evaluating individual student problems, approaches to instructional units, and new teaching technologies or procedures available.
Develops student tests and evaluates results. Determines student grades for instructional units.
Maintains and provides accurate records as required.
Participates in curriculum review, staff development and/or training, and keeps abreast of information in the field of education.
Completes additional tasks as required by administrators.
