Description

The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Technology Education Teacher at Central High School beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. Projected start date: August 21, 2023.Wisconsin certification 1220 required. May also consider 1291 and/or 1299 licensure. Multiple certifications are preferred.Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications:• Evidence of understanding current philosophies, trends, and approaches to teaching technology education.• Knowledge of and willingness to teach students who may have special needs in any of the following areas: English for Speakers of Other Languages (EL), Students-at-Risk, Title I, High Performance Learning, and Special Educational Needs, including decision making skills relating to integration and mainstreaming issues.• Knowledge of computer education and computer driven technologies & software.• Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and support staff.• Knowledge of architecture/construction, graphic arts, woods/manufacturing, and transportation systems.• Knowledge of career pathways.• Familiarity with Technology and Engineering Credentialing Opportunities within the 9-12 setting.• Knowledge and background to meet requirements for teaching transcripted courses with the WTCS system.• Ability to teach in a hands-on, project-based environment.• Familiarity with and commitment to use proper safety procedures that follow OSHA and other state requirements and certifications needed for Technology and Engineering environments.• Effective classroom management practices to facilitate learning in a lab environment.• Ability to work collaboratively with other Technology and Engineering teachers at both the district and school levels.• Demonstrated commitment to supporting a strong/rigorous curriculum focused on preparing students for relevant technical careers in today's ever-changing workplace.• Demonstrated desire and skills required to build and maintain business & industry connections to Technology and Engineering.• Ability to effectively collaborate and plan with other teachers within the CTE and across core content areas.Position responsibilities:• Monitor student performance and behavior and takes appropriate action.• Participate in parent/teacher conferences. Interpret student strengths, weaknesses and/or problems a student may be experiencing in the classroom.• Collaborate with staff to develop instructional units in career education and disciplinary literacy.• Advise a Career and Technical Student Organization (SkillsUSA).• Expectation of continued professional growth and cross curricular support and Integration.• Collaborate with core content teachers to integrate Technology & Engineering and core content skills across curriculum.• Maintain and provide accurate records as required.• Participate in curriculum writing and review, staff development and/or training, and keep abreast of information in the field of education.• Complete additional tasks as required by administrators.Applicants are requested not to contact or send application materials to individual building principals.
