Position / Title: Vocational Training Coordinator Bargaining Unit: ETA Department/Location: Specialized Student Services Calendar Days: 184 Reports To: Building Administrator JD Revision Date: 06/2021 Supervises: N/A Function / Position SummaryTo provide vocational services including instruction, work training and supervision for identified secondary students. Job Duties / Responsibilities
Assess referred student’s vocational and academic strengths and weaknesses in relationship to vocational opportunities for the purpose of ensuring realistic vocational goals by providing recommendations to students, teachers, and parents.
Promote vocational and transitional assessment services for the purpose of identifying students eligible for transition assistance.
Schedule vocational assessments.
Assist teachers and related staff for the purpose of supporting lesson plans and/or developing students’ vocational skills.
Participate in IEP meetings.
Coordinate employer and school partnerships for the purpose of meeting the work education objectives.
Monitor student’s job location for the purpose of ensuring compliance with pertinent child labor laws, insurance guidelines and safety.
Organize guest speakers and field trips to job sites for the purpose of exposing students to a variety of work environments, educational and/or training programs.
Prepare a variety of documents, reports and written materials (e.g. reports, instructions, memos, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to parents, staff; providing written support, developing recommendations and/or conveying information.
Work with representatives of participating community and state agencies serving students’ vocational needs for the purpose of complying with program guidelines.
Teach students in vocational skills (e.g. work requirements, interviewing skills, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing their readiness for employment.
Coordinate programs for parents on issues related to Transition.
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work descriptions.
Knowledge of various disabilities and how it affects employment.
Ability to supervise support staff.
Ability to coordinate work experiences both in the community and in school for students identified with special education needs

Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Ability to work with many interruptions through the course of the day.
Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials including the ability to lift up to 30 pounds with proper technique.
Terms of Employment
Nine month position
Performance of the position will be evaluated with provisions set by the Board of Education as per contract.
