DATE POSTED: August 30, 2024 JOB TITLE: Studio Technology Assistant DEPARTMENT: MFA Interaction Design REPORTS TO: Director of Operations SCHEDULE: Part Time. Non-Exempt (Hourly) SALARY: $33.00 per hour POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Studio Technology Assistant provides technical and logistical support for the MFA Interaction Design (MFA ixD) program. The Studio Technology Assistant's primary responsibilities are to organize, coordinate, and maintain the use of a library of hardware equipment and electronics materials for use by students and faculty. The Studio Technology Assistant will engage directly with the MFA ixD students, faculty, the SVA community and external collaborators. In MFA Interaction Design's two-year graduate program, students learn the skills, methods, and mindsets of interaction design in order to seed healthier and more inclusive futures. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty and students regarding technology needs and materials, providing technical support for classes, workshops, guest lectures, and special events.
Manage the department's technical equipment and resources, including researching and recommending technological enhancements for courses and student projects. Oversee warranties, repair records, and inventories for hardware and software libraries.
Collaborate with department staff to maintain clean, organized, and fully functioning studios and classrooms.
Work with other SVA departments, such as Administrative Network Services, Security, Purchasing, and the Office of Learning Technologies, to ensure technology and security updates are implemented and assist with hardware and software installations as needed.
Attend weekly staff meetings and liaise with SVA's IT department to address and troubleshoot technical issues.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Two (2) years of professional work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in a studio environment, with an understanding of current technology trends and innovations in design and art.
Proficiency and operational knowledge in: Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and WordPress.
Knowledge of web scripting languages, including HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
Experience working with maker tools (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting, woodworking) and physical computing tools (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino, sensors, actuators).
Familiarity with interaction design, and alignment with MFA ixD values and the SVA mission.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to lift a minimum of up to 25 lbs.
Ability to work in an office environment, perform manual tasks, and use related office equipment.
Schedule - Up to 20 hrs., 3-4 days per week. Occasional evenings (5-7pm) required.
Willingness to work outside designated office hours as needed for events or departmental needs.
Shift may change according to departmental needs.
