Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Temporary Staff Accountant for a well-established luxury hotel that prides itself in providing an exquisite guest experience just South of Manhattan Beach. This full-time, 6-month temporary opportunity offers an on-site work environment on an experienced, outgoing team with amazing ocean views!

As the Staff Accountant, you will work collaboratively with a talented accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting while a member of their team is on leave!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process financial transactions for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expenses.
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts to ensure financial record accuracy.
• Assist in creating financial statements (balance sheet, income statement) with a focus on luxury hotel metrics.
• Participate in developing the hotel budget, including forecasting revenue streams.
• Analyze variances between budget and actual results to identify spending trends.
• Follow internal controls to safeguard hotel financial assets and prevent fraud.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and tax laws.
• Collaborate with other departments on financial matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 years of experience in accounting with a preference for candidates in the hospitality industry.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, Microsoft Office 365 (specifically Excel)
• Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or other related field

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
