Background Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (or Master’s Degree) in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related discipline
- 8 - 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (Automotive preferred), including 2-4 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering and minimum 4 years of experience in a supervisor, or management position
Strong knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Tools of Process Control and SPC – Statistical Process Control
- APQP — Advanced Product Quality Planning
- Proven leadership capabilities and coaching skills
- Experienced with project management
- Organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency with using standard computer and business software (including MS Office)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with good presentation and interpersonal skills
Job Responsibilities
- Plans and directs all manufacturing engineering activities and personnel within the facility
- Ensures proper and effective support of new product launches by the manufacturing engineering department
- Oversee the on-time input of the BOM/routings, and ensures that production rates and machine cycle times are available for input for all new products per the established project plan
- Help to develop plant layouts and materials/product flow plans via internal and/or external sources
- Assist in the preparation of PFMEA, Process Design Sheets, Process Flow Diagrams, and other APQP activities
- Leads and/or participates in all continuous improvement activities within area of responsibility, and ensures participation of direct reports of these activities, as needed
- Evaluates departmental training needs, schedules employees for training, and ensures their attendance of both local and outside seminars, as required
- Develops annual department goals in support of the company’s stated corporate goals/reviews and follows-up on the status of achieving said goals
- Ensures the on-time delivery of all equipment necessary to support new product launches
- Maintains open lines of communications with and serves as a liaison between corporate staff, plant personnel/team, customers, and suppliers regarding new product launches and production issues
- Manages overall departmental budgets and operations within department per policy
- Performs all other duties as assigned
