What you'll do
The Specialist, Plant Security Protection, will assist the Plant Manager, Scout Security and Fire Protection (SFP) in the day-to-day Security activities at Scout's South Carolina vehicle production plant, assuring the protection of people, corporate assets, production operations and business continuity. Reporting to the Plant Manager, Security and Fire Protection, the Specialist will foster a culture of security awareness throughout the organization, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, drive the implementation of policies, procedures, and standards, and contribute to the long-term goals and objectives of both Scout's security function and production operations.

  • Assist in development and implementation of comprehensive security and fire protection policies, procedures, and programs for the manufacturing plant campus in alignment with Scout corporate standards.
  • Assist in the management of third-party security professionals in a SOC/Fusion Center or on plant grounds, ensuring effective coordination and allocation of resources to maintain a secure and safe environment.
  • Prepare reports, provide situational briefings, train plant security professionals on proper response procedures in a SOC/Fusion Center setting. Have the ability to communicate to plant leadership on incident response and on how a situation was or will be handled. Provide recommendations as necessary.
  • Assist in the management of a security guard contract, ensuring contract adherence, reviewing procedures, and making recommendations as appropriate. Inspecting guard posts, ensuring compliance with guard orders, Scout regulations and policies.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training programs on security procedures for plant employees, contractors, and visitors, fostering a culture of security awareness.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities, and make recommendations to the Plant Manager, Security and Fire Protection, and assist in implementing appropriate countermeasures to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Shop leadership, Facilities, EHS, Plant Engineering, HR, and IT, to incorporate security requirements into operational plans, construction projects, and emergency response protocols.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work, engage qualified suppliers, and manage contracts and service delivery for on-site security services and technologies.
  • Ensure the monitoring of electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV surveillance, and alarm systems, to ensure their proper functioning and timely resolution of any technical issues as directed by the Plant Manager, Security and Fire Protection.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local law enforcement, emergency response agencies, and other external stakeholders to facilitate effective incident response and community engagement, under the direction of the Plant Manager, Security and Fire Protection.
  • Conduct investigations into on-site security incidents, accidents, and breaches of security, ensuring timely reporting, documentation, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to security, fire protection, and emergency management, and proactively make recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist the Plant Manager, Security and Fire Protection regarding on-scene incident management for emergency situations at the plant; assist in developing, maintaining and the execution of the Emergency Action and Crisis Response Plans for such situations.
  • Assist the other members of the corporate SFP team as directed by the Plant Manager or Director of Security and Fire Protection.
  • Assist in the development, tracking, and control the Plant Security protection investment and annual operating budgets.
  • Assist in measuring, clearly communicating Security and KPI objectives, incidents, and performance to the Manager, Plant Security and Fire Protection.
  • Represent Security in relevant internal and external committees, working groups, associations, etc.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and be able to travel (domestic and international) on behalf of the company from time to time. The role will be based in Blythewood, SC, and requires regular attendance at the manufacturing facility.

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field. Relevant certifications or equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in security protection, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven experience in working in SOCs/fusion centers, preferably at a supervisory or senior level.
  • Proven experience in writing scopes of work and managing contracts and managing third-party security vendors.
  • In-depth knowledge of security principles, emergency response protocols, and crisis preparedness drills and exercises.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and programs, ideally within a large-scale industrial environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders, external agencies, and contractors.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Familiarity with security and fire protection technologies, including access control systems, CCTV surveillance, intrusion detection, and basic knowledge of fire suppression systems.
  • Experience in conducting security investigations and preparing detailed reports.
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to security and emergency management.
  • Ability to work and take decisions independently, handle multiple priorities, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $95,000-$115,000
Internal leveling code: IC9
