This is a benefitted, full time, day shift, salary position in PreOp Surgery which is located at our Scripps Green Hospital at Torrey Pines. The schedule consists of two 12 hour days as a Charge RN starting at 5:00am, and two 8 hour work office days with a flexible start time between 5:00am- 8:00am. There is rotating administrative call on the weekends. This position is 60% clinical and 40% administrative. The Supervisor will oversee 20-25 employees ( RNs, PCAs) in this fast paced environment.

ResponsibilitiesThe Supervisor of Patient Care RN with our PreOp Surgical Team at Scripps Green, will ensure that the nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety. Under the general direction of the Patient Care Manager, the Supervisor RN will share leadership responsibilities for the nursing unit, including:

• Managing daily staffing plans, ensuring appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adhering to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge.
• Ensures the safe transition of patients thru the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating total patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care.

Required Qualifications

• Maintains current California RN license
• Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider and all competencies/certifications required of the charge RN on the unit.
• Five years applicable clinical experience, one of which in a leadership role.
• Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.
• Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.
• Graduate of an accredited program.
• Provider and all competencies/certifications required of the charge RN on the unit

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN and/or certification in area of specialty if applicable.
• 2 years leadership experience
• Current American Heart Association ACLS for Healthcare Provider
• Prefer 2 years clinical experience in a critical care setting
