Resident Services Assistant-Independent Living-Per Diem
I. BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION
To ensure lifestyle/resident and concierge services are provided to all residents in a timely manner and that the resident's dignity is always maintained.
II. CUSTOMER/CLIENTS SERVED BY POSITION
Residents, resident family and guests, Department managers , supervisors, support staff, outside vendors and state and federal regulators.
III. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Successful completion of First Aid course. Prefer CA Certified Nurse's Assistant for C N A but will accept proven years of work experience in lieu of C NA. CPR preferred.
IV. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of two (2) years' experience with proven experience working with senior citizens as a caregiver and/or customer service.
V. SPECIAL SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATION AND /OR SPECIALTRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Current Class C driver's license. Able to drive SV cars and small bus. Able to operate office equipment, working knowledge of Microsoft, email communication and ability to work well with others. Ability to understand English and carry our directions both verbally and written. Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to demonstrate positive attitude and ability to collaborate well with residents, staff, colleagues, and family. Possess leadership qualities to oversee staff. Good written and verbal communication skills. Prefer First Aid certified. Able to pass pre-employment TB exam and physical and obtain fingerprint clearance according to our licenser. Able to be a collaborator and listen. Demonstrates positive attitude and ability to collaborate well with people and staff.
VI. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES THAT MUST BE SAFELY PERFORMED WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION WITHOUTPOSING A DIRECT THREAT TO OTHER EMPLOYEES, RESIDENTS AND STAFF
WORK PERFORMANCE - job knowledge, quality, productivity, planning, creativity, initiative
RESIDENT/ CONCIERGE SERVICES
  1. Observes all Seacrest Village Policies and Procedures for Emergency Response and Security.
  2. Always carry walkie-talkie (radio) and GRC keys.
  3. Respond to all calls by Emergency Call system immediately within 10 minutes and follow up with email to staff and contact resident family if applicable.
  4. Reads/responds emails each shift.
  5. Checks the schedule for any changes in the AM rounds and daily routine.
  6. Check for messages on the phone and computer each time you enter the office.
  7. Returns all family calls.
  8. Secure office door upon leaving.
  9. Maintain resident confidentiality & knows and complies with Resident Rights.
  10. Observe all residents. Alert the Director of GRC & Resident Services Coordinator of any concerns.
  11. Record all daily events at the end of shift email report.
  12. Introduce yourself to all new residents.
  13. Provide instruction to new residents on the use of Call buttons and Vigil Pendants.
  14. Obtain completed Paramedic Emergency Forms and Resuscitate/DO Not Resuscitate forms from new residents and follow appropriate procedure.
  15. Replace Paramedic Emergency Forms and Resuscitate/Do Not Resuscitate Forms following hospitalizations.
  16. Communicate with Seacrest staff as directed using appropriate E-mail accounts/voicemail system within 24 hours.
  17. Keep desk drawer locked at all times.
  18. Orient new staff to duties and responsibilities.
  19. Give written report at the end of your shift to the next person coming on duty (Change of shift report)
  20. Update schedule as needed and communicate with coordinator of any changes.
  21. Log first aid supplies.
  22. Adheres to Universal precaution and infection control.
  23. Assists with GRC Activities, as needed, if time permits
  24. Complete all required paperwork for billing purposes and scheduling.
  25. Able to interact and communicate with families in a positive manner and keep families updated on resident concerns or incidents.
  26. Assist with scheduling of IL resident medical transportation if time allows.
  27. Monitors and communicates to RSC the need to order supplies.
FACTORS AFFECTING WORK PERFORMANCE - attendance, reliability, interpersonal, adaptability, judgment, mission, adherence to policy & regulatory requirements.
  1. Regular, punctual attendance. Flexibility to include some weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events.
  2. All other tasks and special projects as delegated by the Director of GRC.
  3. Inform senior administrative staff of significant resident changes and needs.
  4. Participate in management, staff, and other meetings to support facility operations.
  5. Represent Seacrest Village and department in a professional and positive manner within and outside the community, appearance, and attitude. Appropriate dress within SV guidelines.
MISSION, VISION, POLICY, AND REGULATIONS - SV Philosophy, Judgment, Adherence to policy
  1. Familiarize self with Seacrest Village mission/vision, rules, policies, and procedures and same with the Jewish Tradition as observed by our residents, family, and guests.
  2. Observes safety regulations; to include but not limited to wearing appropriate safety equipment, reporting work related injuries, using proper body mechanics & responding to fire/disaster alarms and wearing security badge.
  3. Payroll/HR- uses the current computer system to follow timekeeping policy utilizing timeclock to record all hours worked to include mandatory meal period of thirty minutes by the fifth hour of work and OT is authorized by supervisor. Completes assigned tasks as designated by supervisor and HR.
  4. Wear appropriate clothing per facility and uniform policy to include name badge.
  5. As a matter of SV policy and federal and state law; attends HIPAA training, follows HIPAA confidentiality and privacy policy, applies "minimum necessary," "needs to know" guidelines on all PHI information and reports non- compliance violations to Privacy Officer.
  6. As a mandated reporter per DOJ requirements; attends Mandated Reporter Abuse training meetings, will report all abuse incidents; physical, emotional, financial, sexual, verbal, completing the 1) SOC 341 form, mailing or faxing, 2) calling the ombudsmen and/or department of health services; for Assisted Living and Independent Living, call ombudsmen, and APS (adult protective services), and 3) informing supervisor so resident can be protected.
  7. Follow the corporate compliance standard and employee code of conduct, of performing work with an ethical behavior and utilizing proper business conduct and professional practice, which complies with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; as serving the residents, preserving the organizational reputation, maintaining resident/employee trust, community respect. Reports non-compliance or concerns to Corporate Compliance Officer.
IX. EQUIPMENT REQUIRED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Telephone, fax, copier, printer, computer, emergency call system, back support belt, pager, radio, and washer & dryer.
X. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk on feet for several hours at a time, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms. The employee has good vision and hearing due to the safety of the residents. Occasionally the employee will be asked to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to lift or move unassisted up to 25lbs with appropriate equipment or assistance.
