Job Description

• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Weld metal parts using spot welding gun, hand, electric, or gas welding equipment
• Preheat workpieces preparatory to welding or bending, using torch
• Fill cavities or correct malformation in lead parts; and hammer out bulges and bends in metal workpieces
• Dismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment
• Position and secure workpiece using hoist, crane, wire and banding machine, or hand tools
• Select, position, and secure torch, cutting tips or welding rod according to type, thickness, area, and desired temperature of metal
• Guide and direct flame or electrodes on or across workpiece to straighten, bend, melt, or build up metal
• Fuse parts together, seal tension points, and add metal to build up parts
• Fill voids in other departments in sheet metal as needed, i.e. grinding, deburring, tumbling, etc.
• Other duties as assigned
• Knowledge of welding and sheet metal machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
• Ability to use all metal and welding measuring devices
• Possess an understanding of proper heat and time settings
• Ability to differentiate between metals, galvanized, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.
• Tig welding on stainless steel experience a plus
• 3 years’ or more experience in metal fabrication

Qualifications

• Welding : 3 years (Required)
• TIG welding : 2 years (Required)
• High school or equivalent (Required)
