My client is a leading construction firm based in the heart of New York. Their portfolio spans a wide range of high-profile developments across Commercial/Retail/Hospitality sectors. They are expanding their team and seeking a skilled Construction Project Accountant to play a pivotal role in their financial management and project success.
The Construction Project Accountant will:Manage and oversee all financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and project profitability analysis.Coordinate with project managers to ensure compliance with financial procedures, identify potential financial risks, and develop mitigation strategies.Conduct regular financial audits on projects to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations and internal policies.Process accounts payable and receivable, manage invoices, and ensure timely payment to subcontractors and suppliers.Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate contracts and manage project costs effectively.Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes and support external audit requirements.Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures across projects.
The ideal Construction Project Accountant will have:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Proven experience as a project accountant or similar role, within the construction industry.Strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting.Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
