Position Summary:

At Seasons Best Landscaping we are determined to develop fulfilled team members, satisfy our clients and create outstanding landscapes.

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Controller to join us on our journey to transform our bold ambitions into a reality! This position will handle the financial and accounting operations of a rapidly growing organization while being a strategic thinker, having an entrepreneurial spirit and a growth mindset.

Our Controller will be driven and comfortable in a fast paced, growing company where they will have the ability to support with developing our growth plan of the future. They’ll be analytical, diligent and adaptable while further developing our financial reporting procedures, departmental budget planning and upgrading company dashboards and KPIs.

Additional Controller responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Manages the preparation of the financial analysis of the organization, including:

  • Overseeing the monthly and year end closing process and preparation of financial statements and cash flow projections
  • Oversight &/or responsibility of administrative processes including but not limited to accounts receivable, billing, purchasing, accounts payable and payroll
  • Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Analyzing and interpreting financial reports to understand trends in profitability, performance against budget and other key measures of the financial health of the organization
  • Oversee and ensure all bookkeeping tasks are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Ensure job cost reports are completed in a timely manner and disseminated appropriately
  • Coordinate with CPA Firm to prepare financials and taxes as applicable

Prepares and complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including:

  • Ensuring the appropriate procedures and accounting practices are followed for monthly, quarterly and year end closing processes
  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Calculate and submit monthly sales tax filings
  • Prepare quarterly Commercial Activity Tax filing
  • Identify vendors eligible for receiving form 1099 and mark the vendors in accounting software
  • Prepare and file Bureau of Workers Compensation reporting, payments & true-up

Collaborates with other managers to ensure the accuracy of systems and efficiencies of the process, including:

  • Continuous improvement & oversight to company ERP System
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the accounting practices, internal controls & processes
  • Interpreting and leveraging data to drive business decisions
  • Recommending changes to organization processes and strategy to improve financial results
  • Coach and mentor business unit teams to understand their financial performance and the tools available to help them run a profitable department

The following education, skills and experience are required for the Controller role:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, managerial finance, business administration or related field
  • 3 years of experience in finance or accounting positions
  • High Proficiency with ERP Systems, QuickBooks, MS Office, advanced Excel functionality and job costing technologies
  • Solid data analytics and audit skills
  • Experience managing divisional budgets, processing A/R, A/P & reconciliations required
  • Strong analytical, technical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience developing budgets and tracking budgets and cash-flow models
  • Ability to quickly adapt in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment
  • Strong financial acumen and process orientation
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
