Seattle Convention Center is Hiring an Event Services Intern Near Seattle, WA

Position Summary

  • Experiential Learning (75%): Intern performs entry level task and shadow department professionals during meetings, site visits and events.
  • Independent Project (20%): Intern will manage an independent project for their department. Projects are presented to executive leadership and department staff at the end of the internship.
  • Internal Networking (5%): Intern will interview and learn from industry experts through networking opportunities within and outside the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with Event Managers to gain knowledge of the facility layout, room diagrams, crowd flow, rules and regulations to assist staff with site tours, planning meetings and other activities.
  • Complete special projects in the areas of event management, financial tracking, staffing, event coordination, crowd management, transportation management and facility safety.
  • Perform administrative tasks that support the development of event strategies including organizing, data entry, proofreading, copying, collating, and filing materials.
  • Prepare reports, presentation materials and correspondence into the event and signage management systems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, hear, sit, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled and working towards a bachelor’s or associate’s degree at an accredited college.
  • Hospitality and Tourism majors and minors preferred.

Timeline and Schedule:

  • June to August – flexible start and end dates depending on availability
  • Up to 25 hours per week
  • Work schedule must be during normal business hours
