Through our work as a philanthropic advisor, grant maker, and convener, we invest in community-led solutions and ignite powerful and rewarding philanthropy to make Greater Seattle a stronger, more vibrant community for all.

Position Overview:

Seattle Foundation is seeking a Philanthropic Services Associate to support the Philanthropic Advising team as the frontline customer service representative with donors who have established a fund at Seattle Foundation and have identified as self-directed. This role reports to the Director, Philanthropic Advising, and is responsible for delivering top-notch donor-facing services in coordination with colleagues on the Philanthropic Services Team and across the organization. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, demonstrate strong attention to detail, be able to provide quick but thorough follow through, and juggle multiple projects with competing deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated customer support to a portfolio of self-directed donor funds, coordinating with the operations support team to ensure timely response to donors on fund-related transactions: grants processing, gift confirmations, fund balances, quarterly statements, etc.
  • Responsible for a minimum of one (1) proactive engagement touch point with fundholders annually.
  • Act as a point of contact for donors and/or their appointed advisors and may act as an escalation point for complex client implementation and servicing issues.
  • Conduct outbound calling, email communications, and meetings (in-person and virtual) as needed to nurture relationships and/or keep donors apprised of SeaFdn policy, procedures, or initiatives.
  • Provide Philanthropic Advisors with back-up support for fundholders when needed (ex: vacation, paid parental leave, etc.)
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify donors that have the potential to upgrade service levels and/or are major donor prospects.
  • Ensure strong documentation and recordkeeping of all donor interactions in the CRM database.
  • Serve as support staff for multi-stakeholder philanthropist meetings: prepare meeting materials, record notes, and support Philanthropic Advisors to deliver on follow-up items.
  • Provide general administrative and donor services support tasks as needed to Philanthropic Services Team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in donor relations, client/customer service, or philanthropy (or a combination of equivalent experience)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of both client and staff information
  • Commitment to maintain quality of work while sticking to a timeline
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups of people and businesses
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, culturally diverse environment
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with database management and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

Seattle Foundation envisions a thriving region of shared prosperity, belonging, and justice, where all individuals and communities have equitable access and outcomes, regardless of race, place, or identity. We are committed to advancing racial equity using an intersectional lens, and integrate our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts into all that we do. We hold ourselves accountable to uphold our organizational values, and strive to do better every day.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

The work is performed in an office setting, or a hybrid office/remote combination. All positions require the capability of working at a PC for extended periods. Team efforts with event support may require periods of physical activity involving standing, walking, and moderate lifting. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary functions of the role.

Safety and Health Requirements:

Seattle Foundation places the health and safety of its employees and the communities we serve as our highest priority. To support this priority, we require that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Waivers are available for accepted medical and religious exemptions.
