The Position: 
We are seeking to fill a Floor Coverer position. The Floor Coverer will under supervision of a Paint Trade Supervisor, performs a variety of duties within the general field of maintenance floor covering. For additional information on the job, please see the full posting.

The ideal candidate has: 
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent education as required by the trade apprenticeship program.
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license with an insurable driving record
 What will you do?
 
  • Remove, install, apply, cut, sew, tape, or lay carpet, including pad.
  • Remove, install, apply, cut, or lay linoleum sheet goods, linoleum tile, carpet tile, vinyl composition tile, ceramic tile, and resilient coatings. 
  • Measure and estimate floor covering materials on each job as assigned.
  • Stock warehouse and job sites with boxes of tiles, and large rolls of carpet.
  • Remove and install devices for attaching of carpets, linoleum, rubber, and all other resilient floor coverings. 
  • Remove and install metal edgings, metal corners and caps used in the installation of floor coverings. 
  • Remove and install rubber or vinyl cover base.
  • Remove and install plastic laminates, non-slip or abrasive materials, rubber, cork, or plastic materials as may be required. 
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goals, work plans, performance measures, and continuous improvement of service delivery to assist in attaining the unit/program/department initiatives and goals, agency core strategies, and mission through a spirit of service, teamwork, and respect. Work well with other employees, follow direction, and work well under pressure. 
  • Attend all required training and safety meetings; use, maintain and replace assigned personal protective equipment; report all injuries and illnesses to supervisor immediately; complete and submit incident/accident reports as required; report hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisor; and follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies, and procedures, and actively support and participate in the Emergency Preparedness program and tasks.
  • Requisition materials as needed.
  • Make such reports as may be required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
