The Position: 
We are seeking to fill a Painter position. The Painter willunder supervision of a Paint Supervisor, performs a variety of duties within the general field of maintenance painting. For additional information on the job, please see the full posting.

 The ideal candidate has: 
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent education as required by the trade apprenticeship program.
  • Experience as journeyman painter in building construction, maintenance, or woodworking fields.
  • Tools of the trade, including tape, mud, paint (with brush, roller, and spray), pressure-washer, line-striper, spray gun, extension ladders, scaffolding, swing stage, and safety equipment, etc., including negative pressure respirators.
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license with an insurable driving record
 What will you do?
 
  • Prepares surfaces and applies finish coats of enamel, lacquer, varnish, or paint. 
  • Performs brush or spray painting, either decorative or protective coats, to either interior or exterior surfaces such as ceilings, walls, floors, doors, machinery, etc. 
  • Mixes paint to proper color and consistency. 
  • Prepares surfaces to insure adhesion. 
  • Rigs scaffolding as required. 
  • Makes such reports as may be assigned. 
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goals, work plans, performance measures, and continuous improvement of service delivery to assist in attaining the unit/program/department initiatives and goals, agency core strategies, and mission through a spirit of service, teamwork, and respect. Work well with other employees, follow direction, and work well under pressure. 
  • Attend all required training and safety meetings; use, maintain and replace assigned personal protective equipment; report all injuries and illnesses to supervisor immediately; complete and submit incident/ accident reports as required; report hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisor; and follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies, and procedures and actively support and participate in the Emergency Preparedness program and tasks. 
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
