Join us in making a significant impact on the School of Theology and Seminary at Seattle Pacific University through exceptional event management and coordination!

Seattle Pacific University is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Events Manager for our School of Theology and Seminary. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth planning, coordination, and execution of a variety of key events, including lectureships, conferences, advisory board gatherings, graduations, and more. The ideal candidate will have a passion for event management and a commitment to the mission and values of Seattle Pacific University.

Key job duties include

Event Planning

  • Coordinate and manage events for the School of Theology and Seminary (SOT/SPS), both on and off-campus. Key events include the Walls Lecture, Palmer Lecture, SPS Advisory meetings, annual SOT Faculty/Staff events, TSU events, Homecoming Alumni Breakfast, Convocation, Commissioning, SPS Discernment Weekends, Graduation, summer intensives, tenure receptions, and farewells.
  • Maintain and manage the SOT/Seminary Calendar.
  • Schedule rooms for all events, including school meetings.
  • Coordinate catering and food arrangements for various meetings with Sodexo or other caterers.

Lectureship and Special Events

  • Plan and coordinate SOT Lectureships such as:
  • Frank Spina Christian Scripture Lectureship, Mark Abbott Ministry Lectureship, Alfred Palmer Theology Lectureship, Walls Wesleyan Theology Lectureship
  • Help coordinate Pastors/Ministers Day with the Wesleyan Holiness Connection.
  • Plan and coordinate two Discernment Days each year in coordination with the Assistant Dean.
  • Organize Seminary Community Dinners in Kingswood.
  • Plan and coordinate Seminary Graduation and UG Senior Breakfast.
  • Collaborate with the Dean to plan and coordinate the beginning of the year Faculty Retreat.

Advisory Board and External Relations

  • Coordinate twice-yearly/two-day meetings of the SPS Advisory Board, including airfare/hotel arrangements, room reservations, and catering for CEOs.
  • Maintain meeting agendas, packets, and follow-up items.
  • Update membership records and contact information.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience. Preference for a BA in Theology or specialized ministry. MDiv or MA in Theology, a plus.
  • Proven experience in event planning and coordination, at least two years preferred. Previous experience in higher education, preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Personable, outgoing personality.
  • Results-oriented self-starter who demonstrates the ability to lead and be a team player in an administrative and/or ministry environment. Demonstrates resourcefulness, resiliency, trustworthiness, and a strong sense of responsibility
  • Awareness of racial/ethnic/gender identity issues and demonstrates ability to cultivate relationships of trust with a diverse group of internal and external constituencies.
  • A maturing and contagious Christian faith, knowledge of and willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community. Exhibits a passion for theological education and the ministry of the local church.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and event management software. Expereince in Adobe and Tableau, a plus.
Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled. This is a part time (20 hours per week) 11 month position. The position would typically have July's off.

Salary: $26.00 to $30.00 per hour, DOE

This is a part time position with available benefits. SPU pays a portion of the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and a 7% contribution to a retirement account, for eligible employees, with immediate vesting in the plan.
