SEC Newgate is Hiring an Account Director, Communications Near Sydney, FL

The roleSEC Newgate is seeking experienced strategic communications professionals to work on projects that help clients make a difference. We are looking for a specialist to join the team, with flexible work arrangements including consideration to full-time or a part-time hours, work in a hybrid model and different locations given our national footprint.

As part of the SEC Newgate Communications team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex issues servicing clients with a truly integrated solution when facing a complex communications challenge – this may include strategy development and implementation, issues management, government relations, organisational reviews, media relations, community and stakeholder engagement, market and social research and digital communications. 

We are looking for a high-performing consultant who is:

  • Collaborative and adaptable: You will have a can-do attitude, flexibility and great interpersonal skills
  • Curious and proactive: Identifying innovative ideas to progress projects for clients
  • Calm and dedicated: A good sense of humour and ability to balance multiple deadlines to contribute effectively and constructively to your project teams and across multiple practice areas
  • Self-starter, able to lead projects as well as collaborate and teamwork within client teams
  • Committed to ongoing professional development

Typical practical skills and experience should include:

  • 5-10 years of Corporate Communications or Public Affairs background ideally specialising in one of more of government, agriculture, energy, financial services or corporate
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Politics or Social Science
  • A genuine and keen interest in politics, communications, current affairs, government and the media with established networks in these areas
  • Strong writing capabilities – the confidence and ability to write clearly and succinctly
  • Strong analytical skills to absorb complex and technical information and turning it into clear and concise information
  • Organisation skills – capable of setting up and adhering to your own system of structuring your work day, prioritising tasks, methodically completing regular tasks and proactive working on implementation of communications plans
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and listening skills
  • Strong networks across government, bureaucracy and/or media
  • Positive approach with a good sense of humour
