Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sanitation Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of routine janitorial and security tasks aimed at maintaining a clean and safe environment for our building and grounds. The position requires a strong attention to detail, and the ability to perform heavy cleaning duties as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming.
- Scrub, strip, sanitize, wax, and buff floors using powered machines as needed.
- Clean dry and wet spills immediately; for wet spills, set up floor signs and dry floor before leaving area.
- Use cleaning chemicals per the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Power wash facilities as needed.
- Patrol exterior periodically to clear debris from grounds and parking areas.
- Empty trash cans and ash trays.
- Service, clean, and stock janitor closets, restrooms, office spaces, break room, exhibition kitchen, and conference room.
- Inspect, dust, and clean all common area furniture, walls, warehouse and office ledges, equipment, exterior exit doors, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and vending machines.
- Clean exterior windows from the night before; de-spot glass as necessary throughout shift.
- Sweep exterior entry ways (watch throughout shift and maintain).
- Follow all safety and procedural guidelines and report any variance or unsafe situations to management.
- Inform supervisor or the Facilities Coordinator of any maintenance deficiencies.
- Participate in meetings and committees as appropriate.
- Comply with all SHFB policies and procedures.
- Maintain professional, positive, and courteous manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet company needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: At least one year janitorial experience. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations a plus.
Skills and Capabilities:
The ideal candidate will possess many of these professional and personal abilities and attributes.
- Knowledge of standard janitorial methods, practices, tools, and equipment.
- Capable of following oral and written instructions (e.g., data sheets, operation procedures, etc.).
- Able to use heavy duty janitorial machinery such as floor buffers.
- Able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (patrol).
- Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); clear understanding of OSHA and MSDS guidelines on their use (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, and back support).
- Able to work in outside elements and a non-temperature controlled warehouse.
- Willing to use chemical or cleaning solutions in a safe manner to perform duties.
Allowable Substitutions: Combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and skills for the position may be considered in lieu of experience at the company’s discretion.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
