50% - Incumbents attempt outbound telephone contact with delinquent members to determine the reason for the delinquency, to determine if the Credit Union can help in the case of job loss or reduced hours and to establish a payment arrangement to eliminate the delinquency in cases where the member hasn’t experienced a financial hardship. Prior to attempting the call, the incumbent performs an analysis of the member’s recent transactions involving deposit, consumer, mortgage and credit card accounts and recent collection efforts on those accounts across numerous internal systems. Incumbents also collect specialty accounts that require special care (SCRA, Cease Communication, Discharged Chapter 7 Bankruptcy), work deposit offset reports allowing funds to be debited and applied toward delinquent accounts, work various other reports for delinquency pushing accounts toward final action. Incumbents make independent decisions whether collection efforts have been exhausted and account should be moved toward charge off, repossession or foreclosure.
10% - Incumbents answer inbound member calls concerning delinquent consumer, mortgage and credit card accounts. Assistance offered is the same as outbound call contact. Incumbents also make third party outbound calls such as contacting insurance agencies, storage facilities or repair shops to acquire information on the condition of vehicles prior to determining whether a repossession order should be placed.
20% - Incumbents assist Collections Support Manager in day-to-day instructing/guiding junior Collection Support Specialists. This includes training new employees and mentoring current employees to ensure they are adhering to collection policies. Incumbents also assist Manager by facilitating departmental work which includes preparing reports and ensuring previously referenced collection tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Incumbents have the ability to act in a supervisory capacity in Manager’s absence.
10% - Incumbents administer the digital collection portals such as Relationship Manager member access and the Collections email inbox reviewing inquires, determing the best course of action and either responding directly to member digitally or facilitating live contact from a Collections Specialist.
10% - Incumbents assist branch personnel with their questions and share information concerning Credit Union collection efforts with Collateral Disposition, Charge Off, Default Management and the Bankruptcy departments. Incumbents facilitate the administration of documentation which includes ensuring collection notices, letters and Notice of Claims for deceased members are delivered in a timely manner.
Required Education:HS Diploma or GED Desired Education:Associates in Business, Finance or other related fields Required Relevant Experience:6 years Desired Relevant Experience:8 years Required Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:Should possess extensive knowledge of MARGO Platform, MARGO Teller, Bob White (3270), First Data Resources (FDR), OnBase, Default Manager (DM), NICE CXone, Resource Library and Microsoft Office Suite. A minimum 6 years of experience with the Credit Union and 6 years of Credit Union delinquent account collection is required. The ability to extract information from numerous Credit Union systems/databases and integrate it into a cohesive delinquency resolution plan. Applicants must possess an ability to establish and maintain payment arrangements, ability to communicate with members in a professional manner and have a thorough knowledge of collection policies. The ability to assist the Collections Support Manager and still meet individual productivity goals while working reports and accounts for consumer, mortgage and credit card delinquency.
