Summary/ObjectiveSecurity Financial Bank (SFB) is hiring a Credit Analyst to join our collaborative team of experienced analysts! This position plays a significant role in the service of our clients and is primarily responsible for supporting our relationship managers in the credit review and approval processes, assessing credit worthiness, and assigning the appropriate risk rating to new loan requests.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related field and a background in commercial or agricultural analysis is desired. The credit analyst works independently alongside members of the team and must demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate with a high-level of accountability.

Credit Analyst Duties And Responsibilities
  • Spread and analyze commercial and agricultural financial information to ascertain overall credit risk through the input of data into spreadsheets and/or analysis software in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare loan presentations, as assigned, in the appropriate format. To do so, the analyst must:
    • Understand and utilize industry metrics to compare performance and risk status
    • Analyze proposed collateral structures and values
    • Assist in determining the proper structure of the credit to mitigate unnecessary risk and safeguard the bank's asset quality
    • Pursue continued research and education in the commercial and agricultural industries to achieve a high level of knowledge and understanding of current and future SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, & Threats) matters and how the bank's customers and loan portfolio may be affected by such environments
  • Provide Relationship Manager (RM) support through assistance with technical exception monitoring and the collection of proper supporting information. Work with RMs and Bank Coordinators to complete timely annual reviews and process adverse actions as needed.
Secondary Responsibilities And Accountabilities
  • Pursuit of continued research and education in what distinguishes strong companies or industries from weak companies or industries.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Finance of Accounting related studies is preferred
  • Commercial or agricultural analysis background is desired
Other Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Working knowledge of financial accounting with the ability to spread and analyze financial statements, cash flows and tax returns from companies (including farms and agricultural related) and individuals with moderate to complex structures to determine debt serviceability and credit worthiness.
  • Understanding of company formation structures with ability to identify borrowing and guaranty structures.
  • Understanding of loan structures including commercial, agricultural, commercial/agri real estate, consumer and residential mortgage.
  • Knowledge of how credit requests affect other bank departments, such as Loan Processing and Credit Administration.
  • Knowledge of credit investigations for companies and individuals including credit bureau reports, UCC filings, tax liens and other search tools.
  • Solid understanding of market dynamics and economics.
  • Ability to interact with customers and employees with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Well-organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in software, Word, Excel, spreadsheet software and use of a financial calculator with strong math proficiency.
  • Knowledge of the Jack Henry core system and SageWorks analysis software is a plus.
  • Internal/External human relations skills.
  • Ability and willingness to be a team player.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Self-starter.
  • Knowledge of Bank regulatory procedures and regulations.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making abilities.
Performance Measures
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Successfully direct workflow in the department to utilize staff efficiently and ensure minimal backups of work
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed largely within the Bank with a limited chance of personal injury. Prolonged and frequent mental and visual concentration required. Periodic stressful situations in response to multiple priorities within established deadlines. Work hours are generally during normal business hours. Unscheduled evening and weekend work may be needed to meet the needs of customers and employees.
  • Occasional travel between offices and out-of-town/overnight business travel may be required.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds of office supplies and equipment. Some bending, turning and twisting required.
