JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting the Branch Manager in progressively developing and implementing strategies in the following areas: personnel development, customer service, deposit and loan portfolio growth, fee income contribution, compliance, security, operations and audit, expense control, and maintenance. Collaborating with Branch Manager to assess performance and actions taken in the above areas and make necessary changes in pursuit of key performance indicator achievement. Assisting in evaluating individual staff members’ performance and contributions, provide performance coaching and be a resource to staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Sales (35%)

  • Determine through profiling what product(s) are best for the client and suggest the sale
  • Create a customer tickler system (profiling) and proactively interact to provide solutions
  • Follow procedures and policies to setup new accounts in our Platform system
  • Follow up any exceptions made with a request for approval
  • Assist Branch Manager in developing business plan and implementing actions in pursuit of key performance objectives, ensure ongoing assessment, provide coaching and feedback
  • Participate in stakeholder sales meetings with branch staff
  • Support marketing promotions by creating client and employee awareness
  • Participate in business calling program
  • Understand lending requirements and guidelines for consumer credit
  • Understand product guidelines and lending limits
  • Understand lending regulations
  • Responsible for processing credit extension requests
    1. Credit applications
    2. Credit report assessment
    3. Debt to Income ratios
    4. Proof of income
    5. Proof of collateral value and collateral insurance
    6. Loan to value evaluation
    7. Approval
    8. Exceptions
  • Prepare Request to Loan committee
  • Ensure disclosures are sent before deadline
  • Prepare for closing the loan
  • Organize and maintain loan files
  • Show ability to sell CSO with loans to achieve goals
  • Assist the Branch Manager to achieve loan goals

Providing Customer Interactions & Service (20%)

  • Consistently provide the highest level of personalized service by following the "Moments of Truth"
  • Be prepared to assist walk in customers and respond to telephone (ACD line) calls
  • Answer questions about account activity, perform transfers, perform research requests
  • Assist customers with other questions regarding bank accounts and services
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Monitor overall level of service the branch staff is providing to customers
  • Initiate efforts to increase service perception through employee motivation

Leadership (20%) 

  • Under the leadership of the Branch Manager, provides leadership, direction and coaching to staff members to create, maintain, and nurture an environment where all can be optimally successful in their roles.

Referrals (10%)

  • Pursue new business opportunities through actively involving commercial lending, private client services, mortgage lending, and branch delivery as an integrated team. This includes establishing periodic meetings, determining strategy, executing on that strategy, and documenting results.

Collection Activity (5%)

  • Manage NSF and delinquent credit extensions
    1. Initiate contact with client
    2. Determine actions that will be taken to resolve default
    3. Follow-up with client to ensure resolution
  • Minimize delinquencies/charge-offs by aggressive pursuit
  • Review PB collection efforts and assist Branch Manager provide training and coaching

Monitoring Branch Performance (5%)

  • Assist Branch Manager in completing monthly Board Reports
  • Assist the Branch Manager in holding a monthly meeting with all employees regarding Stakeholder performance
  • Review branch performance and communicate with employees to determine actions that can be taken to achieve set goals
  • Under the direction of the Branch Manager, work directly with the Lead Customer Service Representative on branch compliance and operations

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

  • Other duties as assigned
  • Attend meetings as requested
  • Follow bank policies, security procedures, and regulations at all times

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced understanding of the bank’s products and services, as well as strong proficiency with banking systems - paying and receiving/new accounts/loans and related programs
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of sales, credit and lending requirements
  • Superior ability to effectively matches customer’s need by referring and/or selling products and services to enhance the customers’ relationship
  • Superior ability to define and offer solutions to resolve problems using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources
  • Ability to apply knowledge to assignments and maintains expertise by keeping current with new developments and procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive and helpful attitude toward customers (internal and external)
  • Advanced skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to interpret basic financial information.
  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills
  • Highly ethical skill level of trustworthiness, character, professionalism, confidentiality and honesty in dealing with internal or external customers
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word and Excel) and advanced keyboarding and ten-key skills
  • Advanced professional-level written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance

EDUCATION* 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in banking, finance, accounting, or business, or equivalent required

EXPERIENCE*

  • Minimum of 2 years of customer contact & service experience in financial institution preferred required
  • Demonstratable experience and a strong background in sales, as well as credit or lending required
  • Previous supervisory role experience preferred
  • Notary Public in State of Nebraska preferred

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
