The Cardiovascular Radiographer II Outpatient is a health care professional that, through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified cardiologist, performs procedures on adult patients resulting in accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart and/or peripheral vascular disease while maintaining maximum patient safety. CVR-II OP is primarily responsible for employing imaging techniques and operation of other related equipment. CVR-II OP also has the knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and arrhythmia detection. CVR-II OP is accountable for assisting in the evaluation of quality programs and performance of other CVR-I OP in the department. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background. Job Description: Operates and maintains all radiographic, digital, processing and viewing equipment associated with the production of high-quality images and quantitative analysis of coronary/peripheral anatomy so the cardiologist can properly diagnosis and treat patients. Ensures availability and proper operation of equipment and devices in collaboration with clinical engineering and company reps. Acts as first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization procedures to assure completeness of case. Reviews the pre-procedural patient assessment to obtain adequate information, communicate pertinent data to MD and promote positive outcomes for patient. Provides patient/family education, assist the RN in the care and monitoring of the patient in the cath lab (pre, intra and post procedure) under the direction of a Cardiologist to ensure patient safety and outcomes. Maintains a thorough knowledge in the use of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and products for procedures to ensure its’ accuracy and safety. Provides effective troubleshooting support for staff. Assist in the education process of new employees, mentors students and other healthcare professionals observing in the cath lab. Assist in the development of performance improvement activities in the cath lab, to include ideas, data collection, data analysis and implementing change to ensure best practice in the cath lab. Collaborates with Unit manager and director regarding new procedures and technology. Performs other duties as assigned. Education, Credentials, Licenses: Must be RT, licensed in the state where work is being performed, registered as a RT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and has Cardiac-Interventional Radiography certificate by the ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certified Specialized Knowledge: CPR certification, hemodynamic monitoring, IABP operation, basic arrhythmia interpretation and knowledge of advanced cardiac interventional procedures. ACLS certification Kind and Length of Experience: Five years’ experience as RT, three years as CVRT. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Right Career. Right Here.
