Select Harvest USA is Hiring a Maintenance Electro-Mechanical Tech Level Near Turlock, CA

Position Overview

Must be self-directed to perform daily job duties working proactively to prevent and minimize production down time. Work proactively with Operations ensuring continuous operation of all production lines while maintaining workflow of maintenance electrical/mechanical activities as well as performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling of production line equipment. Performs highly skilled maintenance electrical and mechanical duties as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on electronic sorting equipment and packaging equipment including: Sortex FB, Tomra Nimbus and iXus platforms, as well as various packaging equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, instructions, safety rules, and specifications.
  • Work closely with higher level EMT's to learn PLC controls and ladder logic systems.
  • Ability to successfully complete a mechanical aptitude test.
  • Ability to setup and configure ESM laser and/or optical thresholds, histograms as they pertain to quality needs.
  • Able to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and other systems problems to determine route cause of issue and prepare/recommend a corrective action.
  • Coordinates all troubleshooting efforts as they pertain to Food Processing Equipment utilized within production areas.
  • Works closely with Maintenance Manager/Plant Manager to develop LOTO safety procedures.
  • Work with Maintenance/Plant Manager to develop/ improve line control and production line efficiency; and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Able to use a variety of hand and power tools as well as a digital multi-meter for troubleshooting.
  • Insure all items procured are Food Safety approved according to company program.
  • Assists in new project installations as directed by management.
  • Able to create detailed SOP's for the purpose of training and use of Technician Operators.
  • Follows established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and safety procedures while performing all tasks and job duties.
  • Support the Maintenance Department with all new projects related to Food Processing production lines.

  • Maintain and adhere to SQF certification, HACCP processes working with all compliance policies
  • Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and safety practices.
  • Wears all required safety equipment and works in a safe and accident free manner.
  • Follows all LOTO policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for upholding all Food Safety, Quality, & People Safety policies and regulations.
  • Ability to use scissor lift, boom lift, forklift or any other equipment to complete any job or task.
  • Use our CMMS system to create work orders, complete task and anything associated with our current system.
  • Responsible for upholding all Food Safety, Quality, & People Safety policies and regulations.

Qualifications and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of electronic sorting equipment, packaging equipment, metal detectors, X-Rays, and other food packing/processing machinery.
  • Shifts or hours may vary (Overtime as needed)
  • Experience with product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs).
  • Experience reading and understanding schematics
  • Experience with troubleshooting mechanical components (e.g., diagnostics, problem solving, etc.).
  • Experience with reading mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics)
  • 3 -5 Years Forklift Certification
  • 5 Years of relevant experience in a related Food Processing equipment.
  • 5 years in a maintenance/technical position in production environment
  • 5 years maintaining/troubleshooting packaging equipment, conveyors, photo-eyes, cable-veys, transfer systems, and various food processing equipment.
  • Ability to identify faulty mechanical/electrical components.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, LOTO, GMPs.
