Seminole County School District is Hiring a Teacher, 6-8 ELA Near Donalsonville, GA

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid Georgia professional certification in the assigned teaching field
2. Qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO: Principal

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of the teacher are such as those in the list below, but they may be increased, decreased, and otherwise modified

  1. *Planning
    1. Professional Knowledge: The teacher demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, pedagogical knowledge, and the needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.
    2. Instructional Planning: The teacher plans using set and local school district curricula and standards, effective strategies, resources, and data to address the differentiated needs of all students.
  2. *Instructional Delivery
    1. Instructional Strategies: The teacher promotes student learning by using research-based instructional strategies relevant to the content to engage students in active learning and to facilitate the students' acquisition of key knowledge and skills.
    2. Differentiated Instruction: The teacher challenges and supports each student's learning by providing appropriate content and developing skills which address individual learning differences.
  3. *Assessment of and for Learning
    1. Assessment Strategies: The teacher systematically chooses a variety of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment strategies and instruments that are valid and appropriate for the content and student population.
    2. Assessment Uses: The teacher systematically gathers, analyzes, and uses relevant data to measure student progress, to inform instructional content and delivery methods, and to provide timely and constructive feedback to both students and parents.
  4. *Learning Environment
    1. Positive Learning Environment: The teacher provides a well-managed, safe, and orderly environment that is conductive to learning and encourages respect for all.
    2. Academically Challenging Environment: The teacher creates a student-centered, academic environment in which teaching and learning occur at high levels and students are self-directed learners.
  5. *Professionalism and Communication
    1. Professionalism: The teacher exhibits a commitment to professional ethics and the school's mission, participates in professional growth opportunities to support student learning, and contributes to the profession.
    2. Communication: The teacher communicates effectively with students, parents or guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning.
  6. Exhibits courtesy and a professional attitude at all times in dealing with the board, school administration, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public.
  7. Maintains accurate, complete, and appropriate records; files reports promptly
  8. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy
  9. Demonstrates professional practices in teaching
  10. Maintains lesson plans as required
  11. Assumes responsibility for supervising students in all settings
  12. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
  13. Maintains confidentiality and professionalism regarding students and school system affairs
  14. Works effectively and cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and staff
  15. Performs all duties in a timely and effective manner
  16. Effective oral and written communications
  17. Maintains a professional appearance as appropriate for job responsibilities
  18. Complies with state and local laws and policies, including faculty/staff handbooks
  19. Performance will be evaluated annually
  20. Performs all other duties as requested by the principal and/or superintendent
