DESCRIPTION:

The Project Manager – Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program directs activities related to the development of the MLT program including monitoring grant deliverables, collaborating with facilities on laboratory renovations, working with vendors to purchase lab equipment, developing the program curriculum, and marketing the program to high school and college students as well as the broader community. Additionally, the Project Manager prepares the program for initial accreditation candidacy.

This is a temporary/full-time grant funded position, and the duration of the position is based on the continued funding availability of the grant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Implements scope of work as indicated in Capitalization Incentive Grant (CAP grant) proposal including scheduling and documenting project meetings and events.

2. Monitors and reports on grant progress and implementation performance to determine appropriate action and ensure completion of grant(s) technical performance goals and deliverables.

3. Develops program curriculum that allows for dual enrollment opportunities, aligns with accreditation standards, maximizes industry credential attainment, and creates a seamless transition into a bachelor’s degree program.

4. Prepares reports to grant funder/sponsor in consultation with Grants Management and Finance departments.

5. Assists in monitoring budgets for remodeling and renovation projects.

6. Monitors the delivery and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the laboratory remodeling project.

7. Develops and maintains relationships with community stakeholders and business partners.

8. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution, preferably in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or a closely related field.

2. Three years of management or supervisory experience.

3. Florida Generalist Technologist licensure or supervisor.

4. National Certification (ASCP, AAB, or AMT) as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist.

5. One (1) year experience in managing projects in healthcare or laboratory settings.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution, preferably in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or a closely related field.

2. Current knowledge of grant compliance principles; ability to understand and interpret policy, procedures, and regulations as they relate to the grant.

5. Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Projects) and video conferencing applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

1. Works inside in an office environment.

2. May require flexible work hours, including occasional evenings and weekends to support program needs.

Conditions of Employment

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security-sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children. The College will conduct various types of background checks which may include, but are not limited to: criminal background, credit check, driver's license check, previous employment and references.
