This is an advanced technical position that requires the individual to have a thorough knowledge of the payroll system and the ability to perform complex and specialized duties. The incumbent in this position works in the classification, analysis and reporting of payroll, benefits and personnel data, and is responsible for supporting the complete weekly payroll process including, but is not limited to, processing payroll, processing manual payroll calculations and checks, auditing of weekly pay process transactions and assisting with training staff and providing support. The individual ensures accurate and timely payroll processing and collaborates with cross-functional teams and contributes to process improvements to enhance the efficiency of payroll operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, Human Resources, or related field is required. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience working with centralized automated payroll processing systems or similarly related financial accounting field is required; or any equivalent combination of relevant education/training and experience will be considered. Experience with Kronos Time-Keeping systems and with Lawson Infor System and Global Human Resources/Payroll is highly preferred. American Payroll Association (APA) certification is desirable. Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, as well as tuition reimbursement practices. Demonstrate proficiency in data entry and record keeping. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel/Spreadsheets (Vlookup, Pivot Tables) is required. Knowledge of SQL is highly preferred. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
