Semmes, Bowen & Semmes has an immediate opening in our McLean office for a Paralegal with experience in workers' compensation and insurance defense. Semmes is a paperless office environment. We offer the opportunity for hybrid/remote work; however, this candidate will need to be available in the office most days of the week Monday through Friday.Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Requirements include at least at least 2 years of workers' compensation experience
Excellent communication and software skills (i.e., Word, Outlook, e-filing, etc.)
Must possess excellent critical thinking and organizational skills
Track billable time on a daily basis
Prepare legal documents and general correspondence; draft standard correspondence; proofread, edit, and format documents
Prepare paper court filings and electronic filings
Organize, file, and manage electronic and paper documents, exhibits, pleading bibles, trial binders and closing bibles
Organize and submit documents for timely entry into the firm’s docket system
Manage and coordinate attorney calendars, scheduling, and travel plans
Request /organize and summarize medical records.
Draft motions and answer interrogatories.
Extensive client contact must possess excellent verbal and written skills.
