SEnergy is seeking detail oriented, self-starter that is creative with proven success in designing transmission line projects. This position plans and designs transmission projects for the Transmission division. The successful candidate will have 4 or more years of successful experience in Civil Engineering in transmission for the power industry. 8 years or more of experience would be considered for a Sr. Transmission Design Engineer position. The position is located at our Houston office and may require some overnight travel to project sites. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans and designs electric transmission lines.
Analyzes existing transmission lines for conductor upgrades and communications cable additions.
Design of deep pile foundations and direct embedment depths for Transmission, Distribution, and Substation projects.
Recommendations of foundation design parameters for projects.
Research and studies new technologies, methods, and equipment
Drafts, finalizes, approves, accumulates, and issues drawings, material lists, manuals and schedules for construction and revises transmission records to reflect as-built conditions
Provides technical design support to Clients during construction process.
Develops, approves, and maintains material specifications and construction standards.
Develops design processes and procedures.
Provides transmission project budget estimates, when appropriate
Estimates quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program;
Possess strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills and able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
4-7 years’ experience in Transmission design for the Energy industry;
Familiarity with PLS-Caisson, PLS-Pole, PLS-CADD, LPile and FAD Tools.
SKILLS:
Strong (effective) written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional computer skills with an emphasis in project management, spreadsheet and word processing applications
Strong Skills of time management, organization, and mulit-tasking
PHYSICAL:
This position requires the ability to listen and hear, good eyesight, sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands and arms.
