We are seeking candidates for the position of Sr Programmer Analyst (3023) in the I T - Emerging & Speciality Technologies.

Salary Range: Min: $70,668.00 - Mid: $88,348.00 - Max: $106,028.00

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

To provide the systems analysis and programming required to support new systems, to enhance existing systems, and to solve business issues for various user departments.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports and implements new systems or major enhancements to existing systems as related to assigned projects. This may include:

• Detailed problem definition through user interviews and data gathering;
• System analysis and design to include input and output requirements, system logic and flow, and system controls such as backup and recovery procedures;
• Development of user, data processing and system/programming documentation; and
• Performing system parallel testing

Supports installation and upgrades off-the-shelf software packages.

In conjunction with the Project Leader, coordinates, directs and controls all system implementation phases for new or enhanced systems including acceptance testing and turnover to data processing.

Assists in the technical development and provides technical guidance to less experienced programmer/analysts as related to problem resolution and on-the-job training.

Analyzes, designs and implements manual and/or computer solutions to both business and data processing problems as related to existing systems.

Assists the Project Leader and/or Senior Project Leader in the development of time, cost, resource estimates for new projects and identification of improvements to existing systems.

Provides on-going production support for existing applications, requiring prompt turn-around time for problem resolution with minimal downtime. On call 24x7.

Communicates the statuses of all activities to the Project Leader or Senior Project Leader on a regular basis.

Maintains technical skills in the areas of systems/support and data processing techniques.

Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.

Performs other duties as assigned.

DISCIPLINE RESPONSIBILITIES

Control Center and Operations

• Experience implementing specific system improvements to Operations and Real-Time Systems utilizing diverse technology hardware, software, and applications (i.e. TCP/IP network topology, JAVA and/ or C ) required.
• Experience in configuration and support of diverse computing platforms (hardware and software) for unique and proprietary applications in use such as Dispatcher’s Reporting System, Computer Aided Radio Dispatch (CARD), Audio, Visual, Public Address (AVPA), Automatic Train Dispatch System (ATDS), and other customized systems which utilize standard and specialized technologies for execution preferred.
• Working knowledge and understanding of client-server based passenger scheduling systems, and Interactive Voice Response Application (IVR) required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of computer application support experience required.
• An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered (two (2) years relevant experience equating to one (1) year of formal education) in lieu of the above requirements.
• Proficiency in Windows Operating System and MS Office Suite required.
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills required.
• Must be available to provide on call coverage during weekends or evening/nights.
• Experience supporting a diverse group of customers required.
