PART-TIME HEALTH & WELLNESS SPECIALIST & COUNSELOR

Overview
The Health & Wellness Specialist / Counselor teaches some H&W classes 3rd-12th, and supports individual students and families as a school-based counselor and member of the Student Support Team. They will support the implementation of a comprehensive K-12 Health & Wellness curriculum to include positive identity development (racial-ethnic, socio-economic, gender, etc), interpersonal skill development, boundaries and consent, sexuality, and drug education.

Part-time (Monday-Friday 12-30 hours/week, September-May):
Reports to: Director of Health, Wellness, & Inclusive Practice
Hourly Range: $40-52 (becomes salaried with more hours)

Key areas of work include:
  • Provide counseling support to students when needed;
  • Teach Health & Wellness classes 3rd-12th, including positive identity development (racial-ethnic, socio-economic, gender, etc), interpersonal skill development, boundaries and consent, sexuality, and drug education;
  • Support students and families across the K-12 as a member of the Student Support Team;
  • Maintain student records through the school records platform(s);
  • Advise and collaborate proactively with teachers, Learning Services Team, and Division Directors on individuated student plans.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates have relevant experience as a counselor, therapist, or psychologist and must have experience working with middle and/or high school students.
Successful candidates will also have the following qualifications:
  • A graduate degree in counseling, therapy, psychology, or related field
  • Provisional license required, full license preferred - MSW, LCSW, LMHC, NCC
  • Background as a psychologist, mental health counselor, or clinical social worker
  • A commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Skill with anti-bias and anti-racist practices
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective emotional, psychological, and social support
  • Demonstrated ability to be a valuable resource for students, parents, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with outside specialists and health professionals to determine needed supports and strategies for students.
