As Lead Production Engineer, you will be a critical part of a skilled group of engineers, analysts, and field technicians with a mission to oversee production and delivery of the Navys DDG-51 class ships while working to improve the efficiency and quality of the shipyards processes and ensure ship reliability.

You will work closely with PMS 400D Production Officer/Branch Head to analyze the Initial Baseline Review for each hull, identify potential risks and opportunities, and monitor shipyard efforts to achieve objectives.

In this role, you will:

• Monitor overall progress of each ship and the class in relation to the Performance Management Baseline (PMB). Work with stakeholders to establish and track production metrics, incentives, and define key milestone criteria such as Launch, Aegis Light Off, Generator Light Off, Main Engine Light Off, and Readiness for Trials
• Establish, review and update processes to monitor ship production progress against the PMB, evaluate risk/opportunity index, and capture level of learning met.
• Compare physical progress metrics to EVM reported metrics for inconsistencies. Identify and highlight any issues to PMS 400D.
• Coordinate with EVM Analyst to investigate any potential issues in production highlighted by EVM metrics.
• Assist in planning and executing Initial Baseline Reviews and ReBaseline Reviews. Provide training to participants. Develop potential questions for the Cost Account Managers. Track action items, risks, and opportunities.
• Compare proposed resource load against time-phased shipyard craft resources with particular emphasis on critical craft overloads.
• Participate in scheduled meetings with SUPSHIP, shipyard personnel and subcontractors, providing inputs when needed.
• Support task lead in monitoring team performance to meet contract requirements. Identify areas where adjustments in resources may be needed.
• Develop and submit monthly reports of all completed activities to the task lead.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A Bachelors degree in Engineering; or substitute ten years of ship production support and oversight experience.
• Experience working in a shipyard production environment and in a supervisory role.
• Must be able to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance post-employment.
• Five to ten years of US Navy shipbuilding experience.
• Experience in establishing and monitoring production metrics.
• Experience in interpreting IMS and EVM reporting.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
• Excellent oral and technical report writing skills.
• The ability to travel at least 10% of the time.
